Team Johnson: Pie in the Sky! 🛩

  Brackett Airfield + Local Hiking! Yesterday, Piper and Erik wanted a local spot to take some awesome wildlife / landscape photos. Brackett Field (KPOC) in La Verne is just a hop, skip + a jump from KLGB (and honestly not that far from anywhere in LA). The best part is that there is a beautiful hiking trail (and RV camping area) right next to the airport called Bonelli Park Trail (https://goo.gl/maps/u63FprsY5ZqncY7E8). And, in normal times, there's a great little restaurant, Norm's Hangar Coffee Shop (https://goo.gl/maps/yKceaR1coLewprYy8) , plus a lake just up the way. I believe there is also a playground. It was a gorgeous day with snow in the mountains, warm sun, and beautiful cloud formations (not always the best for flying, but not a problem on this day). They walked just a little ways on the hiking trail and were able to get some great shots (to be added later).   Now that's what I call a hiatus! 😎 It's been...a minute since I updated this blog, but there has been no shortage of flying and adventures during that time and I hope to post lots of old fun pics and stories here soon (especially since Covid has us mostly home-bound for the foreseeable future). For now, I want to tell you about my favorite time of day to fly - dusk ! It is so peaceful and beautiful, it feels surreal and enchanted. I love the sunset, clouds coming in over the ocean, twinkling lights, all of it.
