Brackett Airfield - great local hiking!

 Brackett Airfield + Local Hiking!

Yesterday, Piper and Erik wanted a local spot to take some awesome wildlife / landscape photos. Brackett Field (KPOC) in La Verne is just a hop, skip + a jump from KLGB (and honestly not that far from anywhere in LA). The best part is that there is a beautiful hiking trail (and RV camping area) right next to the airport called Bonelli Park Trail (https://goo.gl/maps/u63FprsY5ZqncY7E8). And, in normal times, there's a great little restaurant, Norm's Hangar Coffee Shop (https://goo.gl/maps/yKceaR1coLewprYy8), plus a lake just up the way. I believe there is also a playground.

It was a gorgeous day with snow in the mountains, warm sun, and beautiful cloud formations (not always the best for flying, but not a problem on this day). They walked just a little ways on the hiking trail and were able to get some great shots (to be added later).

Coming home around 4:30pm offered a spectacular view of the sunset out over the ocean and Catalina (turning base for runway 30)...

And finally, cleared to land, runway 3-0. 👍
