Now that's what I call a hiatus / Flying at dusk!

 Now that's what I call a hiatus!

😎

It's been...a minute since I updated this blog, but there has been no shortage of flying and adventures during that time and I hope to post lots of old fun pics and stories here soon (especially since Covid has us mostly home-bound for the foreseeable future).

For now, I want to tell you about my favorite time of day to fly - dusk! It is so peaceful and beautiful, it feels surreal and enchanted. I love the sunset, clouds coming in over the ocean, twinkling lights, all of it. I also don't get motion sick like I sometimes do during the day. 😉

The occasion for this Boxing Day flight was that we tried to go to the restaurant, French Valley Cafe (https://menupages.com/french-valley-cafe/37600-sky-canyon-dr-murrieta) to get some food to go, at French Valley airport (F70) in Temecula/Murrieta. The flight from Long Beach to French Valley is short (~20 mins) but GORGEOUS when you fly directly over Saddleback Mountain and the Cleveland National Forest...

Unfortunately, we got to the restaurant at 4:03pm and, of course, the restaurant closed at 4:00pm. {Of note - the restaurant was doing business as usual, patrons sitting at the bar and the tables, no masks, except for the host, whose mask was under his chin! Yikes!} French Valley has a nice terminal, and the restaurant is great (Covid-related practices notwithstanding) for a quick lunch while watching planes take off and land. Note there are no vending machines in the terminal.

After debating having Uber Eats deliver food to us at the terminal there like the bougie dorks we aspire to be, we decided to head home instead so we could watch the Dolphins-Raiders game (GO DOLPHINS!!!). Ended up having Uber Eats deliver Thai food to our house, instead. {Coconut Rabbit on Katella is Los Alamitos is such an underrated gem!}

These pictures don't really do the flight justice, but give a sense of why it's my favorite time to fly...

Our New Years resolution is to fly and travel more (when it's safe to do so), so please stay tuned for upcoming posts. And please leave a comment about what you like seeing or reading about. 😊
